The problem
PasifikaTV distributes New Zealand television content to broadcasters across the Pacific by satellite. Viewers and partner stations needed to know what was on and when, and many of them were looking that up on phones with slow or intermittent internet. A schedule that only worked on a fast connection would have missed the audience it was built for.

What we built
A comprehensive custom website for the initiative, with the daily schedule, announcements and programme detail at its centre, plus a mobile app that gives viewers quick and convenient access to the schedule. The app was designed from the start to be tolerant of poor and intermittent connectivity, so a schedule fetched once stays usable when the connection drops.

The result
The website and app supported the satellite feeds as the public face of a government-funded initiative aimed at building stronger relationships in the Pacific region through its media sector. The old site published no usage figures for the schedule or the app, so none are claimed here.
Key takeaways
- Applicable built PasifikaTV's custom website and companion mobile app.
- Both are built around the broadcast schedule, and the app tolerates poor and intermittent connections.
- The project supports an MFAT-funded initiative serving broadcasters and viewers across the Pacific.
