BARNZ: a website for the voice of airlines in New Zealand

As the voice of airlines in New Zealand, BARNZ needed an online presence that reflected its role in the industry to media, government, its members and other stakeholders. Working closely with their communications company, Applicable played an integral part in transforming that presence to meet the diverse needs of those audiences in a clear and visually compelling way.

The problem

BARNZ, the Board of Airline Representatives New Zealand, speaks for the airlines to government, regulators, airports and the media, and serves its member airlines with submissions and industry information. Its website had to carry that authority to several very different audiences at once, including a members-only side, and it had to do it clearly.

What we built

The BARNZ website, built in close collaboration with the organisation's communications company, who led messaging and brand. Applicable played an integral part in the transformation: the build, the structure that separates public advocacy content (submissions, media, membership) from the members' area, and the visual presentation that makes the whole thing compelling rather than institutional.

The result

An online presence that reflects BARNZ's role in the industry and meets the diverse needs of media, government, members and other stakeholders. The old site published no figures for the site, so none are claimed here.

Key takeaways

  • Applicable built the BARNZ website alongside the industry body's communications agency.
  • The site serves media, government, member airlines and other stakeholders from one clear structure.
  • It includes a members' login alongside the public advocacy content.
